Pachira Names Former Samsung Electronics Executive as Chief Intellectual Property Officer
Chuck Donohoe's understanding of IP issues and negotiating expertise will help maximize returns on IP for innovators
January 29, 2008 Ottawa, Ontario - Pachira IP (www.pachira.com), a leading technical intellectual property licensing firm, has named Chuck Donohoe as its Chief Intellectual Property Officer effective immediately. Mr. Donohoe will be responsible for developing, brokering, and licensing strategies for Pachira's clients, including semiconductor and microelectronic inventors and companies.
"Our clients will benefit greatly from Chuck's exceptional understanding of intellectual property issues, and his experience at Samsung licensing microelectronics companies," said Steven Adam, Vice President, Business Development with Pachira. "Chuck brings to the table the negotiating talent and know-how of patent licensing issues, to match Pachira's well-established technical expertise. This dovetailing of skill-sets enhances our opportunities to maximize returns for our customers on their semiconductor and microelectronic intellectual property."
For more than 14 years, Mr. Donohoe was Executive Vice President and General Patent Counsel for Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a global manufacturer of semiconductor, telecommunications, and consumer products. At Samsung, he was responsible for all licensing and litigation activities. Since retiring from Samsung in 2003, Mr. Donohoe has served as a consultant advising on licensing and litigation issues, as well as providing expert testimony for patent and technology litigations.
"These are interesting times for patent licensing, as more and more companies are recognizing the inherent value of the patents they hold, but frequently lack the skill to design and execute a licensing program," said Mr. Donohoe. "With Pachira, I'm looking forward to helping inventors and companies generate real returns on their patents."
Mr. Donohoe is a graduate of Ohio State University with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1964, and with a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1965. He graduated from the George Washington University Law School in 1970. He is now a member of the IP Advisory Board at George Washington University Law School.
