Principal Engineer, Patents

We are searching for a talented Principal Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the VP, Business Development, the successful candidate will use their broad technical knowledge to support our sales effort.
In a small office environment, this role will be responsible for providing technical assessments of potential clients' patents to enable Pachira to sign the best possible clients in an expedient manner. The incumbent’s primary responsibilities will be to:
- review patent portfolios to identify valuable patents (patents that are widely used in the semiconductor and microelectronics industry today)
- filter patent portfolios to eliminate patents that are outside Pachira’s area of expertise or have little or no value
- categorize patents by broad technical categories
- prepare analysis packages to send to specialist engineers and technical experts for more detailed review
- work with Market Researcher to assist in setting search criteria and qualifying potential client patent portfolios.
Some travel will be required to assist sales representatives introduce Pachira to prospective customers from a technical perspective.
The ideal candidate has a minimum 20+ years experience in a variety of semiconductor and microelectronics engineering roles. You have a breadth of technical knowledge spanning process, circuit and systems experience. Ideally, you have worked with patents. You are intensely curious and have a desire to “dig into” technology you may not be familiar with.
